Apprentice event raises funds for hospice

Two teams raised cash and prize donations to the tune of £10,400 after staging their own version of the hit BBC TV series, The Apprentice. St Ann’s Hospice will use the money to provide free care for patients with life-limiting illnesses at their three sites in Greater Manchester.  Victory in the fund-raising contest went to Team Giving, who made £5,600, beating the opposition by £800. A dress down day and calling every restaurant, bar, gym, golf course, hairdresser and shop they could think of proved a success for the team led by litigation partner Claire Graham, under the watchful eye of Mark ‘Nick Hewitt’ Barker.

In total we helped to raise over £65,000 for national heart charity, The British Heart Foundation. The money raised by our employees during 2009 and 2011 will be added to BHF’s general funds to support some of the charity’s 1,200 research projects. A round up of our activites for BHF is below...

Young professionals charity ball

Cobbetts Young Professionals raised over £2000 at a Valentine's ball in aid of the BHF.  A range of prizes were kindly donated by local businesses, including exclusive gift vouchers, VIP treatment at local bars, restaurants and luxury hotels, a signed Leeds Rhinos shirt and private use of a cinema for 50 people.  Over 200 of the brightest and best professionals from the Leeds business community attended the event.

Lawyer completes three peaks in a day!

Andrew Bennett

Banking Litigation partner Andrew Bennett has completed the three peaks challenge in just one day, raising £1000 for the British Heart Foundation.  Andrew who climbed Scafell Bike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon said after the challenge; " The highpoint was finishing.  The lowpoint was being lost on Scafell Pike at 3.30am and trying to navigate by torchlight in the rain. Luckily we didn't lose too much time in the process. Unfortunately every peak was in cloud so we could only imagine the beauty of sunset from the top of Ben Nevis and sunrise on Scafell Pike!"

Cobbetts Life Cycle event raises over £700 for BHF!

Bike1Willing volunteers from the Leeds office came together recently to raise funds and awareness for the British Heart Foundation by participating in the second annual Life Cycle event.

Throughout the course of the day, the team successfully cycled the distance around Cobbetts' four offices, collectively peddling a grand total of 247 miles. Over 30 volunteers cycled for 30 minutes, some for an hour, and plenty more collected donations in the BHF charity buckets, raising £731.49.
