Cobbetts advises EMIS Group plc on £175 million AIM IPO
Mar 30 2010

Cobbetts LLP’s Leeds corporate team has advised Yorkshire-based EMIS Group plc on its admission to the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.

EMIS Group plc was admitted to AIM on Monday, 29 March 2010.  A placing carried out at the time of admission raised £50 million and, on the basis of the placing price of 300p per share, gave EMIS Group plc a market capitalisation of £175 million on admission.

Rawdon-based EMIS Group provides IT services to the healthcare industry and employs more than 770 people.  The Group recorded an operating profit of £15.8 million and a turnover of £58 million for the year ended 31 December 2009, and its products and services are used by more than half of all GP practices in the UK.

Corporate partner, Daniel O’Gorman, who led the deal team for Cobbetts, commented: “We are delighted to have advised EMIS Group plc on its successful IPO.  EMIS Group has a leading position in the market for the supply of software and related services to GP practices and the development of the Company’s on-line clinical software system, EMIS Web, represents an exciting opportunity for improving the delivery of healthcare services in the UK.  Admission to AIM will provide EMIS Group with a platform to develop further and build on its current position in the healthcare sector.“

Alongside Daniel O’Gorman, the Cobbetts team included corporate partner, Guy Jackson, commercial partner, Mark Green, and corporate associate, Abbie Robinson.
