Cobbetts’ public markets team has increased their reputation as savvy legal advisors to companies aiming at the PLUS market, with the recent admission of Australian ASX listed exploration company, Silver Mines Limited.
The company, which explores and develops silver rich deposits in Australia and Tasmania, was admitted with a market capitalisation of £2.17 million.
Cobbetts acted for both Silver Mines and their corporate adviser, Loeb Aron, a London-based corporate financier house which specialises in fundraising for mining and exploration companies.
Sue Johnston said: “The PLUS-quoted market is committed to the needs of small or mid-cap growing companies seeking to raise capital and their profile. The admission will definitely develop Silver Mines investor base by exposing them to a wider UK equity capital marketplace.
“Cobbetts has built a considerable global client base amongst mining and exploration companies and the team was delighted to add Silver Mines to that list.
“Mining is a key area for us - mining deals rose 69 per cent last year and deals have rocketed in 2008 with super-consolidation as a strong upward trend.
“Whilst economic uncertainty cannot be avoided there is little evidence of a slowdown in mining deal activity. 2008 has been a very positive year for Cobbetts.”
