Cobbetts LLP has been named as the UK’s fastest growing AIM legal adviser by number of clients.
The ranking, based on information published by Hemscott, shows that Cobbetts secured six new AIM clients in the first quarter of 2008 – more than any other UK law firm.
Cobbetts’ tally now stands at 30 AIM clients, including newly added construction firm, Panceltica, the first Qatar-based company to be admitted to AIM, and Manchester-based oil and gas exploration company, Enegi Oil.
The ranking also confirms Cobbetts’ position as the top legal adviser to mining and mineral companies on AIM, following the firm’s recent work for mining giant, Highland Gold, on Millhouse LLC’s US$400 million acquisition of a 40 per cent stake in the company.
Head of public markets, Andrew Wright, put the firm’s recent success down to a focus on basic materials, saying: “I spend a lot of time travelling the world extolling the virtues of AIM. In particular, mining and mineral companies have a significant presence on AIM and constitute some of the largest businesses listed on the market.
“I believe that, by spreading the message about the benefits of AIM and the liquidity of London’s markets, we can increase the number of quality foreign companies choosing the UK for a listing.”
