Cobbetts has raised over £55,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, the leading UK care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them.
Cobbetts presented the firm’s donation of £55,920 to Sarah Cuthell community fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society. The fundraising was co-ordinated over a 12 month period as part of Cobbetts’ Charity of the Year programme and included a wide range of activities such as fell walking, cake baking, fashion shows, promises auctions and coffee mornings, to name a few. The proceeds raised will go towards the Alzheimer’s Society’s campaign for improved health and social care for those who have Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Sarah Cuthell said: “The Alzheimer’s Society relies heavily on the generosity of firms like Cobbetts that raise vital funds to help us to provide services and support for those living with dementia and their carers. This donation will help us as we continue our work to improve the lives of over 700,000 people in the UK who currently live with dementia. We are very grateful for all of the hard work and effort that everyone at Cobbetts has put in to help raise such an astounding amount of money.”
Cobbetts’ Charity of the Year programme is an initiative designed to build relationships with communities in which the firm operates, not only involving financial donations but also the giving of the firm’s time and expertise. Following consultation with staff and then a vote, Cobbetts sponsors a single national charity so as to focus rather than dilute its efforts. The firm’s partners match monies raised by staff up to agreed annual amounts.
Cobbetts’ Charity of the Year for 2009-2010 has been confirmed as the British Heart Foundation. As the nation’s heart charity, the British Heart Foundation supports and cares for heart patients by investing in pioneering research and providing vital information to help people reduce their own risk of dying prematurely from a heart or circulatory related illness.
