Leading law firm Cobbetts took its expertise in international arbitration and corporate governance to the British Embassy in Moscow last week, where it held a seminar in conjunction with UKTI.
The aim of the seminar was to provide Russian lawyers with an overview of key English law concepts.
Andy Leach and Darren Kenny of Cobbetts’ international dispute resolution team discussed international arbitration, while Harender Branch and Richard Hepworth of Cobbetts’ capital markets team dealt with the topic of corporate governance.
Over 80 lawyers attended the event, including solicitors from independent firms and in-house counsel from some of Russia’s largest companies.
Partner Andy Leach said: “We are delighted that the seminar was a resounding success as the Russian Federation is a key jurisdiction for our thriving international practice. We have a dedicated Russian team with a Russian language skill set and an expert understanding of the legal challenges that arise across jurisdictions. We look forward to holding a similar event in 2012.”
Cobbetts has considerable experience in Russia having worked for many years with Russian clients that undertake work under English law with the legal system being more developed and predictable than Russian law.
The firm continues to build on its international reputation and is now recognised in Moscow as a high-quality, cost-effective alternative to large US, international and City firms.
