Leading law firm Cobbetts LLP will be offering the region’s investment community the chance to back some of the world’s most exciting technology start-ups at a pitch event at Birmingham Science Park on 30 November. Oxygen Accelerator is a 13-week programme designed to find, develop and support technology start-ups from across the globe and bring them to the UK. Nine companies have been selected to take part in the programme from hundreds of applications that originated from over 22 countries.
The selected businesses, which will aim to raise on average £300,000 each, cover a broad range of disciplines, including social media, gaming, video, education and retail.
After receiving a soft loan of up to £20,000 in return for six per cent equity to cover relocation costs, the companies have received intensive support from a range of mentors and put through a rigorous investment readiness programme at their new home in Birmingham Science Park. Mazars LLP has provided financial advice to the companies, alongside support from experienced entrepreneurs.
Adrian Cutler, partner at Cobbetts in Birmingham said: “Oxygen Accelerator has brought some of the world’s most exciting technology start-up companies to the UK. Not only are there obvious economic benefits in attracting these firms to our shores, but the programme also provides a unique opportunity for investors in Birmingham to support the development of real game-changing technology.”
“We look forward to seeing all the companies pitch on 30 November at an event which will satisfy private investors’ demand for potentially high return investment opportunities.”
Over 100 technology entrepreneurs and businesses including Google, Amazon and PayPal have supported the programme.
