Su Makin has been working in the Cobbetts employment team since the beginning of 2008.  She was previously Head of HR at Cobbetts and has been a Business Mentor for The Prince’s Trust, a member of the Manchester CIPD Committee and an IiP Champion.  She is currently a Director of the Cheviot Trust Pension Scheme and  Chairman of HR in Law (North West).

Su provides a support service to the firm’s clients where something happens which they haven’t experienced before or where they have a practical question about an HR issue such as absence, maternity or statutory benefits.  She is able to help with changes to terms and conditions or act as an additional resource where a business has to go through a reorganisation and does not have enough resource to do it alongside all its other activities.  The service covers the kind of situation where it isn’t really legal advice or theoretical management tools you need but practical help and support to get things done quickly and efficiently.
