Managing Partner

Michael has been Managing Partner of Cobbetts since 1996, prior to which he was a property lawyer and responsible for establishing the firm's very successful banking team.

During his time as Managing Partner he has introduced a number of radical practices in terms of management systems and operational structure focused increasingly on added benefit and value for clients.  

Specific key achievements include:

• Taking the firm through four mergers en route to establishment of a national practice with a ranking well with the Top 50. 
• Achievement of 460% profit growth 1996 - 2004.  Organic growth has run steadily at between 15%-20% year on year.
• Through aggressive recruitment and organic growth the firm's headcount has increased from 175 in 1996 to well over 750 today.
• Development of a values based culture and open management style - an overall ethos of decency and respect.
• Generally regarded as the regional firm with the clearest and most dynamic strategy derived from a clear market focus.
