EC Competition

The EC Competition team specialise in all areas of EC Competition practice implemented in the UK and beyond. The team has a wide experience of acting for both national and international corporates and the public sector on a variety of different projects, transactions, investigations and disputes.  We combine technical expertise with a commercial approach to complex legal issues, with experience covering London, Brussels and the UK.

We advise and represent clients in the following key areas:

  • European and national competition law: Including merger control, restrictive agreements and concerted practices and abuses of dominant positions (contentious and non-contentious), competition compliance programmes and State aid.
  • European and international trade and WTO law: Including EU anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations, WTO law and dispute settlement proceedings, bilateral and multi-lateral relations of third world countries with the EU, customs and indirect taxation and the free movement of goods.
  • Single market, regulatory and funding law. Including most notably public procurement and other single market legislation such as energy and utilities, environmental and technical standards regulations as well as use of the EU funding programmes such as the structural funds (ERDF/ESF) and Reseach & Development programmes.

In advising on the above areas our team is experienced in appearing before not only the UK national regulators such as the OFT and BERR, but also the European Commission and the European Courts in Luxembourg.
