| Pensions law is a technical and rapidly changing area of law. The issues involved can be complex and often involve significant amounts of money. Cobbetts’ pensions team advises employers and trustees of a wide variety of pension schemes. We aim to provide our clients with practical and straightforward advice and to help them to find commercial and cost effective solutions to pensions problems.
We provide a full range of legal services relating to pensions, including:
- advising in relation to legislation, regulations and other pensions requirements
- drafting pension scheme documents and announcements to members
- advising trustees on their powers and duties
- attending trustee meetings
- advising on scheme mergers
- advising on the winding-up of pension schemes
- advising on changes to scheme benefit structures (including the introduction of money purchase benefits)
- acting for employers, trustees and members in Pensions Ombudsman cases
Our Pensions team also works closely with other specialists within Cobbetts. We regularly advise on the pensions issues arising on the disposal and acquisition of businesses and companies. We also advise insolvency practitioners on their powers and duties in relation to occupational and personal pension schemes. Our team also works with specialists in the firm’s Litigation Department in advising and acting for clients in court proceedings involving pensions matters. |
