| What the Honorary Consul Can Do For You
The Honorary Consul fulfils various formal legal administrative duties, primarily for German nationals present in the UK and for German companies. The appointment is made by the German Foreign Office and is approved by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the UK the Honorary Consul is also formally recognised by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
In addition, he is responsible for promoting the economic, social and cultural links between the two countries in the Yorkshire region. He receives regular political and economic data from the German Embassy and updates them on relevant regional developments, as required.
Mark Green has been the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Yorkshire region since 2000. The administrative services include:
- Certification of signatures and copies of documents for use by individuals and companies in Germany;
- First contact for passport and change of name/status applications;
- Provision of assistance for incriminated German nationals.
Please note however that Honorary Consuls cannot issue visas or answer visa enquiries. Please contact the German Embassy in London direct if you have visa enquiries.
